MeKoBE: Medienkompetenz in der Behindertenhilfe in Bremen.

People living in institutions for people with disabilities have less access to mobile, digital devices than people in private households. Moreover, people with learning difficulties in residential facilities for people with disabilities often do not receive sufficient support and encouragement from their professional environment to deal with mobile and digital devices. They are denied access to digital and mobile devices for a variety of reasons (Bosse, Hasebrink 2016).

The aim of the project is to investigate these different reasons and to offer variations on how the communication of media competence can be promoted in the disability assistance in Bremen. A scientific inventory of the training needs for institutions providing assistance for people with disabilities in the state of Bremen will be carried out and, building on this, recommendations for further training in the field of media competence will be developed for people with so-called intellectual disabilities. These recommendations are aimed at employees of residential facilities and workshops for people with disabilities. They are designed in a way that they can be individually adapted to the conditions in different facilities.
